Last Sunday, November 26 was not an ordinary one, as our CEO and co-founder Thuc Vu traveled across continents - from our Santa Clara office to Ho Chi Minh City, to be one of the judges for the final round of the first Blockchain Hackathon ever in Vietnam.

The event, Blockathon, which takes place in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, was co-organized by Infinity Blockchain Labs (IBL),Mekong Business Initiatives, Saigon Innovation Hub and Fintech Club Vietnam.
47 participating teams went through an intensive blockchain training week led by industry experts prior to the event. The winning teams were awarded the 50,000,000 VND, 30,000,000 VND, and 20,000,000 VND cash prize respectively, along with the chance to pitch in Seoul, South Korea and an additional three month post-contest incubation program.
The champion was Uclear, a team of 5 young people from Ho Chi Minh City with their Lalalend project - a decentralized, blockchain-based crowdlending platform.
This Blockchain Hackathon marked a significant step in forming groundbreaking initiatives in the Blockchain ecosystem in Vietnam. The country has the full potential to become a global blockchain hub with its fast growing economy, its young population hungry for the new technology, and its 40,000 engineers that graduate each year.
OhmniLabs & Kambria is proud to be one of the three main sponsors, along with PRD and Tomoapp, and to give the closing speech at the event.
