Silicon Valley-Based Startup Connects Families Through Affordable, Easy to Use Robots
Santa Clara, California — July 19, 2016 — OhmniLabs (https://ohmnilabs.com/), a Silicon Valley-based robotics startup, today announces the availability of its technology for pilot programs across the US. OhmniLabs is kicking off this launch by partnering with facilities such as Home Care Assistance of North America, Avenidas located in Palo Alto, California and The Heritage Pointe located in Walnut Creek, California.
OhmniLabs created affordable and capable robots that virtually provide companionship and care in a way that no existing tool can match. The robots enable shared experiences that are delightful, engaging, and spontaneous for families. OhmniLabs’ robots are customizable and designed from the ground-up and unlike expensive alternatives, the robots feature zero-touch, user-centric designs that stem from research and extensive user testing.
“Our goal is to partner with innovative companies to bring our robots into their facilities as a new and useful way for residents to easily communicate and interact with their families,” said Thuc Vu, co-founder and CEO of OhmniLabs. “The response is very positive and we hope families can benefit from our technology on a daily basis.”
Currently, the OhmniLabs team is working with elder care facilities such as Home Care Assistance of North America and The Heritage Pointe in Walnut Creek, California, and a non-profit social services agency offering a variety of programs for positive aging, Avenidas in Palo Alto, to incorporate the robots into the residents’ daily lives and activities. Residents can easily and seamlessly use the robots to interact with their families across the miles or even just for a daily check-in. For example, robots are placed in a common area, such as the dining room or activity center, to allow family to virtually join the residents during a meal or activity. In addition, residents can use the robots on their own to regularly communicate with their families.
"Home Care Assistance is the leading provider of in-home care throughout North America in part due to our innovative approach to aging and caregiving. The OhmniLabs team shares our passion for technology, not just for the sake of technology, but toward the goal of improving healthcare outcomes and quality of life. Their robots have introduced opportunities to augment both client care and family peace of mind. Our innovation team is excited to build on our partnership with OhmniLabs," said Lily Sarafan, CEO of Home Care Assistance.
“Our cutting-edge facility is focused on bringing our residents the best services and technologies available to ensure that their lives are happy and fulfilling. The robots have a powerful and positive impact as they allow families to easily participate in daily activities of the community,” said Jenny Shively, Resident Relations Director at The Heritage Pointe.
“Part of our programming for older adults at Avenidas is to make them aware of exciting new technologies, such as the OhmniLabs robot, so they can see firsthand how it will improve their lives,” said Amy Andonian, President and CEO of Avenidas.
OhmniLabs is available to collaborate with nursing homes, assisted living communities and retirement residences on programs that allow elders to benefit from its robotics technology. For more information, please visit https://ohmnilabs.com/
