Last week, our CEO, Thuc Vu participated in an interesting panel discussion on AI, Machine Learning and Robotics. The other panelists include Dr. Ali Farhadi - CEO and Founder of Xnor.ai, Biju Nair - CEO of HYLA Mobile, and Barak Turovsky - Head of Product of Google Translate & Machine Intelligence at Google.

The panel was part of Mobile Future Forward, "an intensive all-day executive summit to: DISCUSS - DEBATE - DECIDE the future of technology"  which took place in Seattle, WA. The theme of the event this year is " Connected intelligence: Man, Machine, and Platforms" which aims at catching the waves of the Connected Intelligence Era. By bringing different disciplines, ideas, and industries together in one place, the organizers are hoping to make the magic of this new Era happen sooner.

After returning from this exciting event, Thuc shared with us his insights to two of the most interesting questions from the panel.

Why does it take so long for robotics to get integrated into our everyday life?

Thuc: "In my opinion, it is because there are two main barriers: the high cost and the low utilization. Our robot Ohmni, however, is able to overcome both of these barriers thanks to our in house lean manufacturing process and our personalized customization to meet each customer's specific need. In fact, most of our beta users are amazed by its low cost in comparison to other methods they have used before Ohmni is even there. They are also impressed at how efficient and fast we were able to accommodate their personal needs for the use of Ohmni."

Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) be decentralized or will just be dominated by a few big companies such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft?

Thuc: "I believe AI can certainly be democratized as I have seen a very encouraging trend where some of these large companies are opening up their Machine Learning Technology to developers. On the other hand, some other small startups are also starting to make their own way to enter the market. Ohmnilabs is hoping to be one of them."mff2017_325.jpg
