Japan Post is a government-owned holding company that runs a postal service and a “watch over” service where postal employees would check up on elderly people and report back to their families about their well-being.
In 2015, Japan Post partnered with Apple and IBM, where a Japan Post worker will show up at elderly people’s homes with an iPad loaded with “quality of life” apps to assist them in various tasks such as scheduling medical appointments, hiring home maintenance professionals, volunteering, and coordinating travel.
Japan Post is in Silicon Valley to explore innovations, especially in the aging and senior care areas. Today, the key members of their executive management team spent time at our OhmniLabs’ office to explore possible ways in which they can augment their current offering to ensure the well-being of the elderly community in an interactive manner. We are extremely honored that they decided to spend quality time with our team on their Silicon Valley innovation tour!
